Pour beaucoup le premier vrai album du Cooper Band et ce n'est pas tout à fait faux...
Ici la mutation du groupe psychédélique des débuts en groupe sombre et théâtral est saisissante! Nous sommes en 1971 et le rock a perdu beaucoup de ses icônes devenues légendes. Comme le pote d'alice, un certain Jim Morrison qui disparaît cette même année.
C'est donc dans une période compliquée que sort ce pavé qui va séduire une génération avide de sensations fortes...

Love it To Death ist die dritte LP von "Alice Cooper", veröffentlicht Anfang März 1971. Erstmals produziert vom damaligen jungen Produzent Bob Ezrin, der später auch viele Kiss Alben produziert hat. Die Musik ist meistens klar auf den Punkt gebracht. Es geht Richtung Hard Rock/Shock Rock. I'm Eighteen ist wohl die bekannteste Nummer. Es war der erste Hit von Alice Cooper. ...und noch kein bisschen langweilig. Hier kann man der frühen Alice Cooper entdecken. Das Album hat noch nicht die Reife von "School's Out" und "Billion Dollar Baby". Aber trotzdem: ich höre es gerne.

ALICE COOPER ist eine Band die mich vor allem deswegen schon immer so beeindruckt hat, weil sie so wandelbar war. Hört man sich das 69er Debütlabum "Pretties for you", das 1970 veröffentlichte "Easy Action" und das 1971 erschienene “Love it to Death" an, so könnte man fast vermuten, dass es drei verschiedene Bands seien.

Once Frank Zappa sold Straight Records to Warner Bros. in 1970, the Alice Cooper Band went with it. Creepy, hard rocking tunes that have stood the test of time. Detuned atmospheric guitars and menacing lyrics delivered with Alice's trademark snarl make this a must have. 18 and the Ballad of Dwight Fry are worth the price alone.

Bought Alice Cooper's Love it to Death on CD as its one of my favourite albums and I only have it on vinyl and I wanted to play it in the car. The album arrived really quick and in secure packaging. It is brand new and plays beautifully. There are no cracks or scuffs on the casing. An excellent product.

Ein pechschwarzes Stück klassischen Hardrocks mit Doors, sowie Sabbath Anleihen. Besonders Black Juju und Second Coming ragen heraus. Hier klingt vieles noch schön rau, dumpf und wild mit einem Vincent Furnier, wie er verletzlicher und kaputter künftig nicht mehr singen soll.

Ich muss zu meiner Schande gestehen, dass ich erst durch "Sons of Anarchy" auf "I'm Eighteen" aufmerksam wurde. Ich liebte den Song aber in der Coverversion der Serie, und jetzt natürlich noch mehr im Original. Die ganze Platte ist einfach unglaublich gut, musikalisch, eindringlich. Muss man haben.

Pas encore la force de "Killers", mais Alice arrive à maturité avec cet album agréable et plein de petites surprises. Son rock "décalé" et perso fait merveille. Pour ceux qui connaissent par ailleurs la période rock décadent du "groupe" et non celle heavy métal du "chanteur seul", ce disque ne les décevra pas.

"Eighteen" war die Nummer dir Johnny Rotten vorsang, als er sich 1975 bei den SEX PISTOLS als Sänger bewarb. Das sagt schon einiges.Die Scheibe ist im Grunde recht fies & mitreissend. Doch der Klang ist wohl nicht gemastert und man hat immer das Gefühl, das Treble und Bass nicht eingeschaltet sind. Schade - kein Druck auf der eigentliche coolen Scheibe. Deshalb für mich eher etwas enttäuschend...
