This head has issues. The knobs are stiff to turn and the quick release for tilting the head for portrait mode usually sticks firmly and I need to use large pliers to free the knob.

Benro scammed over 4000 people on kickstarter for millions of dollars. AVOID. They are sending broken tripods and refusing to refund. It will be extremely noisy and the legs wont retract. Many cases of this on the facebook group. Then they'll lie about your refund. Good luck ever getting support. This is the worst company in the business.

I primarily do real estate photography and have been using a ball head mount. I was able to get my verticals vertical but took a bit of fiddling to make sure with the ball head. With thia gear head, it's quick! Adjusting pan and tilt individually is a game changer.

| Good piece of kit for the April 2024 Eclipse | 15/06/2024
Got this and used it for the April 2024 eclipse. Might have been overkill, but it allowed me to make small adjustments to keep the eclipse centered onscreen (Sony R5) at the critical moments. I may use it again with a tripod when I attempt to use the R5 to scan old negatives. Will update this review when that happens. Overall, good quality and made my eclipse workflow easy.

This tripod head isn’t precise enough for real estate/architectural use. It has significant play and feels like a plastic toy. I suggest going with a geared head made of actual metal.

I used this geared tripod head to photograph the total eclipse. It's much better than the original ball head or the video head for this application. With the geared head, I could make small, fine changes in aiming the camera to keep tracking the sun. In contrast, my video head is much better for making larger shifts and it tends to shift slightly when being resecured; and I feel that it's also harder to make the fine adjustments for tracking the sun. The Benro also has an Arca-Swiss

I watched many a YouTube reviews and almost all kept coming back to this gear head. I purchased it to perform a real essays photo shoot and I’m glad that I did. It works flawlessly once I got comfortable with the knobs that controlled positioning.

Hallo,
im großen und ganzen funktioniert der Benro Getriebeneiger lässt sich aber in allen 3 Ebenen nur schwergängig verstellen, mir persönlich zu schwer.
In der horizontalen ist das schnelle verstellen so schwergängig dass ich das Stativ mit einer Hand festhalten muss weil ich sonst das ganze Stativ bewege.
Im Vergleich zu meinen Manfrotto MHXPRO-3WG ist der Benro etwas kompakter und bietet eine Arca Swiss Klemmung, was die Schwergängigkeit angeht weiß ich nicht ob ich ein Montagsmodell

I often photograph the International Space Station as it passes in front of the Sun or Moon (known as solar and lunar “transits”). At telephoto lengths, the Sun and Moon pass through the camera’s field of view very quickly. For years, I found it annoying to keep the objects in frame while using a traditional head. Every time I adjusted the head, the heavy lens would cause the traditional head to sag, which would cause me to adjust again while predicting how much sag would occur.

The only adverse criticism I can make is that you need sturdy wrists and fingers to work the 'quick release' for quick adjustment.
The screw mechanisms are smooth and easy to use, and there is no 'loose play'.

This is a very well built, sturdy three-way tripod head that can carry a big load. The knobs are firm and there is no slippage once the unit is adjusted. I have used it to hold a heavy camera with gimbal without any problem. As compared to ballhead units, this one is far more secure.

Una rotula muy para fotografiar con trípode, y tener un control muy fino del encuadre, no pesa demasiado, y pueden realizarse movimientos precisos o mas acentuados. Sin duda una rotula muy útil para tener un control del encudre, además cuenta con varios niveles de burbuja para nivelar perfectamente la cámara.

The only issue I have is the tripod I have it on. It's currently on my small rig tripod, and it feels a little top-heavy. Going to use it on my Manfrotto this week and anticipate it will feel a lot better. Since I shoot most jobs with 2 different cameras I'm probably going to need to get a new Manfrotto.

For the last 20 years I have been a big advocate of ball and socket heads on tripods because they are really quick to use and just work really well.
However, I took the plunge and bought this after watching a few YouTube clips and I've got to say I'm really blowing away with how it changes my workflow.
It's all about the precision at allows, You can set a landscape shot up with your ball head really quickly, but find tuning the composition is never that easy and quite often you find

I've had it for two weeks and after getting used to how it works I really like this tripod head. I was worried the gear ratio might adjust too quickly, but even at 300mm I was able to make incremental adjustments with a small turn of the gears, and the second gear allows for more dramatic adjustments as necessary. I've used it in low light situations in nature (moonset, night sky) and was happy with the stability even at 15-30" exposures (with a remote intervalometer). I've also

Für das Fotografieren im Querformat passabel, aber im Hochformat lässt sich die Kamera nicht nach oben und unten schwenken. Also nicht in den Himmel bzw. auf den Boden. Leider hierfür eine Fehlkonstruktion.

I have two of these. One is now a backup. After just a year I started experiencing drifting while shooting composites. I liked the head enough to buy another. The new head came to me so over tightened I cannot turn the horizontal release knob to quickly pan the camera at all. I’m a big strong dude too. Once this one tires out I’ll be avoiding benro.

PROS:
It's about perfect for my particular application, at a price point that is not too discouraging.
I find the stiffness of the fine adjustment just about right. I haven't found that I need to use the course adjustment. People find them far too stiff but for me, my course adjustment is just moving the tripod.
CONS:
Mounting - It wasn't intuitive how to mount the head on a standard tripod. It was a big concern of mine when I ordered - whether or not it would mount without some kind

I like the way you can make micro changes to the position of the camera quickly and very accurately, it is excellent for positioning star tracker units and aligning to Polaris with pin prick precision without having to twist a ball head screw tightly only to find it moves out of position when released, this geared head eleminates all those stresses associated with ball heads. Once you try this method you will never want to use a ball head again! The clutch release system is also a brilliant idea

Not compatible with large-apex tripods | 01/05/2023
I can't complain about the build quality of this head, but I discovered one problem that caused me to return it. My tripod's apex is 100mm diameter. The diameter of this head's mount point is 52mm. The problem is that the lower parts of the head are at the same level as the mount point, so when the head is screwed onto the tripod, parts of the head are impeded by the apex. This head is only compatible with a tripod whose apex is closer to 52mm diameter.

If you want a Geared Head that is of a good quality of manufacture and does not weigh a ton then this is for you.
No more faffing around with a Ball head to accurately frame any shot from macro to landscape, the difference is amazing

I purchased this for real estate photography and it’s excellent. The adjustments are precise and it feels very solid.
I previously had a Manfrotto geared head and I like this better.
My only complaint is tightening the mounting plate is a bit odd because it’s tight under the camera, otherwise you mount the camera backwards, but not a big deal at all.
Very happy with my purchase.

I expected smaller, flimsier, and inferior due to comparable offers being much more pricey. Surprise hit me when I picked the box up from my door step and felt some weight. Opening the box, I pulled out a much larger than anticipated and all metal construction head. I marveled at how well crafted it was and how smoothly the gears turned with almost no backlash. There are quick releases for large deflections on each knob and a stiffer fine tune knob for smaller deflections. My advice on this is

likes: as the title says precision movements. fairly sturdy with a bit of weight. Adjustment knobs are fairly sturdy with a bit of stiffness that makes them more precise. I like the quick release for fast adjustments
dislikes: not 100% immovable - still can drift the tiniest bit but not enough to be a huge issue. The adjustment knobs can be a bit stiff for some but not for me per se. Same with the quick release adjustment dial - can be a bit annoying to turn for some and it is slightly for me
