| Excellent Movie Based on an Excellent Book | 03.11.2020
I read the book before I saw the movie, and I'd recommend doing it in that order. However, if you just saw the movie, then read the book, too. The movie is wonderful, sad and funny and very moving. Having read the book makes it easier to understand what's happening and why, and you'll love them both.

There were times in the movie they were able to grasp a little of the feel of the book, but I felt like huge elements were left out completely that were very vital to the story. Clare's long red hair was a huge part of the book and in the movie it was mostly shorter and dark. Gomez was supposed to be blond, he also was in love with Clare and they had a brief relationship before Clare met Henry in real time. Henry's hair was long and black for much of the book and their daughter, Alba,

I mainly got this for the Lake House blu ray. I love Sandra Bullock in most of her movies. I've been upgrading my collection from DVD to blu ray here and there. This was the only package that came up with the Lake House on blu ray, so I figured, why not?I enjoyed the Lake House, it played beautifully, and as a bonus, I get the other 2 movies which are both entertaining in their own right. I'm very pleased with this.

If I hadn't read the book, I may not have been quite as disappointed with this movie. But the film does the book NO justice. SO much was left out. It didn't have the same magic. It felt so incredibly rushed. A big disappointment after looking forward to it when I finished the book.

I have mixed feelings. I liked parts of it like the romance, but I have so many unanswered questions about some of the practical elements of the story. Was his first episode of time travel somehow related to the car accident that killed his mother? If it was caused by an event, why does it become a genetic disorder that is passed on to his daughter? We chose it based on the actress whowe had just watched in About Time, another time travel movie we'd loved. The Time Travelers Wife was not charming and was less well developed on key characters. Did not relate to or care for either character. Music was dull and depressing. A gratuitous homophobe scene was the least straw and we quit watching at that point. Would like our money back.

I would love someone to remake this and leave in all the things that were in the book that made it such a great book i.e. the adult stuff like sex and violence, etc. Making it as a film for 12 year olds and under ruined it. As for the ending, well? The ending of the book is so far superior..
