I really expected Keaton’s character to grow and learn to live differently, after all Karl Marx was front and center. However, she is comfortably well off throughout and never grows to understand Donald’s way of life. I really would have liked this if it had been on a deeper level and had a sharp plot but in the end, a waste of money.

What a magical place...mature love....social justice... good actingThen the once shat upon woman says "sweep me off me feet". Seriously? She learned nothing from her experience of being taken care of by an unfaithful man? She does the mediocre (maybe we are all guilty of this) falls for the rebel, then wants him to change. As a middle aged woman....disgusted with the character.Gleeson was great, Keaton played her part spot on. It's the writing that bummed me out.

loved the movie. the best part is the barge. this is exactly what we have been wanting to do for 4 years, but it's very cold on boats, when you have bronchitis. also, love whoever wrote the part about cars destroying the earth and london and murdering people and someone putting this ,in a film. we don't drive either.we have no sidewalks , in s.c., but we stay home .

This DVD could not be played on our fairly new VCR machine...nor on our son's VCR nor on any of the three computers and FINALLY we had to watch it on my son's Lap Top screen. This seems to be unethical to me, to sell a DVD that cannot be played on any of our fairly new state of the art devices. It is printed saying it's in "region 12". Whenever we inserted it, the message came onto the screen "does not play on unsupported color system". Why is this company

It was the usual Diane Keaton character. And I think she is a good actress, although the kind of ditzy, nervous character that was amusing in Annie Hall, doesn't play well forever. Lately the movies I have seen her in have disappointed, this one, BOOK CLUB.Keaton, Norton and Gleeson, while great actors, can't save this sadly-lacking plot. It's a paint-by-the-numbers, no surprises love-in-later-life story even though (VERY PARTIALLY) based on a true story.Not horrible, not great.

Loved this cute tale surrounding the true story of a man refusing to bend to what others perceive is the best type of life. I also am completely in love with London so the local shots where wonderful to see. The story is stronger than almost every Hallmark/Lifetime film and while I have not been much of a Keaton fan in the past, she shined in this adorable story.Very nice rom-com!

Als ich die Besetzung sah und den Inhalt grob überflogen hatte, freute ich mich sehr auf diesen Film. Leider steht, zumindest in den ersten zwei Dritteln des Films, der Fluss der Handlung und die Chemie der Darsteller seltsam befangen auf der Bremse. Es ist schade, doch anders kann ich es nicht beschreiben. Vieles wirkt behauptet und einfach aufgesagt – vor allem in der Interaktion. Auch laufen Veränderungen und Einsichten oft zu schnell ab. Trotzdem sind die Darsteller für sich genommen schon
