| My favorite Massive Attack album with 2 standout tracks with Tracey Thorn's sublime vocals | 12.02.2021
I was late coming to Massive Attack, buying this album before their debut. I had previously been a fan of Tracey Thorn in her Marine Girls, solo, and Everything But The Girl permutations. To have this ex student more literate squeaky clean type of singer in a cosy domestic partnership with her husband Ben Watt turn up unexpectedly as guest vocalist with trip hop bad boys Massive Attack was a stroke of genius. The opening title track is a slow magnificent showcase for Tracey's cool clear

Zur Musik sag ich mal nix - love it or hate it.Die Qualität der Pressung ist eigentlich gut. Allerdings ist das (bedruckte) inner sleve ungefüttert und scheinbar erheblich mit Rückständen der Papierproduktion verdreckt. Hatte ich so deutlich noch nie. Jedenfalls knackt die Platte beim Abspielen und die sichtbaren Anhaftungen lassen sich trocken nicht entfernen. Verkratzt ist sie auch schon.Also: sofort in eine gefütterte inner sleve umpacken und schnellstmöglich waschen!

The quality of the music is well documented, but on vinyl?? Mmm jury is out for me, this came out at a time when vinyl was pretty much done for albums.I've got the original CD and in comparison this is just a little bit brighter, but lacks the authority of the CD, the stereo imaging is slightly better on vinyl but the CD is cleaner overall. The vinyl also suffers from some hot sibilants, that really should have been de-essed for the vinyl master.Great album but don't worry if you just

Not the best MA album but close. They have made so many amazing albums, Especially 3D, who makes most of their music.Great album and a must for all MA fans, quite expensive though, I only wanted the CD as I'd lost mine. I wanted it for the box set of this album and the Mad Professor remix one.8/10My favourite is of defo Mezzanine. Then Heligoland, Which is quite controversial as people wrote that one off for some strange reason.

Si sentono le "imperfezioni" di un LP molto più accentuate del normale...perchè questo vinile è registrato veramente a volume basso ed il noise copre alcuni suoni. Io adoro il suono del vinile, ma in questo caso è meglio ascoltare in CD.

El disco excelente, el vinilo ya es otro cantar. EL problema es que tiene mucha suciedad arenosa por dentro y eso, con tanto meneo antes de llegar a manos del cliente deja el vinilo lleno de hashtags haciendo bastante insufrible su escucha.No es la primera vez que me pasa. Hasta el punto de desistir de su compra.

Il disco è una bomba...soul,reggae,hip-hop ed elettronica magistralmente mescolati in atmosfere notturne...storia della musica moderna!!DA AVERE!!!Unica nota negativa è che mi aspettavo un packaging migliore, quantomeno una copertina doppia.La bellezza della musica contenuta sopperisce a tale carenza.

Un des grands classiques de Massive Attack. J'avais déjà acheté le vinyle dans les années 90. Cet album est pour moi le meilleur de Massive Attack. Si vous aimez « Blue lines », je recommande également « Protection ».

This is fantastic, great music & good sound quality(barring sibilance on so tracks but, this is true ofboth the vinyl & the CD so, must be evident on themaster tapes!).This is perfect for anyone who's the thinking of getting into this band.Recommended five stars.

Da ich meine Lieblingsstücke nach und nach nun auch Vinyl haben möchte, gehört die Protection natürlich auch dazu. Leider hat die Platte schon direkt ab Werk "Lochfraß". Es fehlen einfach kleine ca. 2 * 2 mm (Breite + Tiefe) große Stücke im Vinyl.Also wieder wie früher = Einen Plattenladen suchen, mit viel Glück finden, hinfahren, hoffen dass das Gesuchte mit dabei ist, dann VOR DEM KAUF die Scheibe aus der Verpackung nehmen und genau betrachten.

The CD case (supposedly brand new and sealed?) actually contained '100th Window' so I can't really review the CD I intended to buy ('Protection'). I should really give zero stars but I do like the one that was in the case. Serendipity I suppose.

I love Bristol Punk and Massive Attack is one of my favorites. It's mixture of reggae and rap in a mild setting is just fabulous. If your into Bristol Punk or just like easy listening, then you like this album.

So etwas ist mir auch noch nie passiert:Ich lege die CD voller Vorfreude in den CD-Player, dann die ersten Töne. Mmmmh, das soll Protection sein? Dann der Blick auf die CD: da steht Copyright 2003 und Virgin Records drauf. Protection wurde aber 1994 veröffentlicht und auch bei Circa Records. Die CD ist lustigerweise die 100th Window.
