I like this little lens on my Z6iii. It is light and compact for walking about the local woods and it takes great images and is just a lot of fun. Not quite the same level of detail wide open as the three-times-the-cost Z 35 1.8S but I'm finding the images to be terrific. Small point though.... I returned this model as I did not like the rough / course feel from the surface finish on the lens barrel and swapped it for the SE model (which is beautifully finished). Also added a 52mm filter

A good value lens that is fully up to the standards of Nikon Z lenses. It's not a S range, but is more than adequate for anyone using a Z5, Z6 Or ZF body. I chose the 40mm lens because I have used this focal length extensively in the past and it is a good compromise between a standard and a wide angle lens.

Das Nikon Z 40/2 ist Nikons Antwort auf die Kritik, daß es keine kompakten Objektive für das Z System geben würde. Herausgekommen ist ein im Vergleich kleineres Objektiv, das aber immer noch kein "Pancake", sondern ein "Muffin" ist - wie Thom Hogan humorvoll angemerkt hat.
Das Objektiv gibt es in einer "normalen" Variante und als "SE - Special Edition", die für knapp 50 EUR mehr etwas anders - passend zur Nikon Zf - aussieht. Ansonsten hat sich nichts

Uso questo obiettivo per fotografie generiche per la Street Photography e con l'aggiunta di un filtro close up da 2 0 10 diottrie per le macro. L'obiettivo a focale fissa mi permette di gestire meglio sia le macro e all'occorrenza le foto portrait. L'obiettivo l'ho acquistato usato ma è ottimo. Ha solo la scatola esterna un pò danneggiata.

Le Nikon Nikkor Z 40mm f/2 est un monstre du rapport qualité prix. Au même prix que certain 35mm de marque concurrente, la différence de 5mm n'est pas un problème, de plus cela ajoute de la séparation entre le sujet et le décor car il est plus long même si ce n'est que 5mm.
Pour ce prix on as la chance d'avoir un objectif Nikkor Z et se n'est pas de refus comparé au prix de la compétition.

Just a short review of the NIKKOR Z 40mm F/2
I recently went on a weekend break to Lisbon and wanted to reduce my carry-on weight. I wanted to take my Nikon Z8 but most of my lens collection consisted of super zooms and a couple of F1.2 primes. These are all weighty to travel with, but also as walkaround lenses.
So I picked up the 40mm just for that trip but found myself falling on love. Yes, you lose a little in light gathering compared to the faster primes, but at f2 it is pin sharp while also

This lense changed my view on everyday photography. I was used to walking with Nikkor AF 14-24, but after I bought this lense I only occasionally use 14-24 (for nightscapes, architecture and in some other cases). But 18 delivers very sharp images wide open and it has beautiful contrast! Vignetting not a problem for me, I always turn off that correction. I accept vignetting as a part of this lense soul!

Bella scoperta è una focale che non avevo mai usato, ma l’ho trovata molto comoda. Anche l’obiettivo non è male, l’ho scelto per necessità e per il prezzo proposto. Certo vignetta un bel po’, la nitidezza non è il massimo ma almeno le distorsioni sono contenute.
Che dire se uno non vuole svenarsi, non è che ci sia molta scelta nella serie Nikon. Sicuramente Meglio del 28mm.
Ps. Non c’è il parasole e non è Nikon italia, per fortuna almeno è presente la scatola.

Non so ,sinceramente non sono d’accordo con tutte queste recensioni positive. Non sono un fotografo professionista, di sicuro non ho niente da insegnare a gente molto più brava di me ma nella mia quasi trentennale carriera amatoriale di obiettivi e macchine fotografiche me ne sono passati. Qualcosa ho visto.
A mio avviso l'obiettivo è al quanto mediocre, tutto di plastica, senza parasole, non c’è una modalità manuale anche se si può intervenire sull’autofocus , forti distorsioni periferiche,

I like it. It's small and lightweight which I like. The lend the camera came with is much larger and heavier. It takes decently sharp pictures. It does have a fair amount of vignetting a the widest aperture settings. But it is livable. For the price I think it is a great lens if you want something small to walk around with.

Obiettivo leggero, preso per avere una sorta di 50mm sulla serie Z.
Autofocus veloce, nitido, pratico anche per la street.
Venditore (foto ottica moderna di Siena) eccezionale. Doveva vendermi un obiettivo usato e invece me ne ha mandato uno nuovo sigillato, con garanzia Nital da attivare. Il pacco é arrivato con 3 giorni di anticipo.

This is one of the two potential kit lenses that come with the Nikon Z fc. Kit lens are typically built to a lowish price, and with plastic rear lens mounts, that’s happened here. This said, the Z fc was made for photographers with a certain… image in mind(?), and this lens fits that image well. I’ve been asked if the camera is analogue, with it attached, for example.
With all this said, the photos it helps the camera takes pleasingly sharp photos on a DX body, even towards the edges.

Habe mir dieses Objektiv eigentlich für die Nikon Zfc gekauft, verwende es aber auch an der Nikon Z8. Die Abbildungsleistung ist für so ein kompaktes Objektiv hervorragend. Durch die große Blende gut zum freistellen geeignet. Ein Punkt Abzug wegen der fehlenden Sonnenblende und zu viel Plastik,
das der Leistung aber im Wege steht. Zu erwähnen ist noch das sich um eine Vollformat objektiv handelt. Die Abbildungsleistung ist nicht ganz mit den S Objektiven zu vergleichen was aufgrund des Preises

My 'shorty forty' is a fabulously compact and lightweight prime with an unusual focal length that I have found I love - and it's great for vertical pano shots in landscape orientation. The lens snobs sneer at it of course, because of its plastic construction and mount and the lack of VR but none of that matters to me. The 40mm f/2 is excellent value and does what it was designed to do - and depending on where I’m going, often this will be the only lens I’ll take. Highly recommended.

Having now tried the two copies of the 40mm and a single copy of the 28mm I've come to the conclusion that the 28mm is a better lens, mainly because it's sharp wide open which the 40mm isn't. My biggest problem with the 28mm is it's focal length. For any type of street or candid photography it's simply too wide. Ultimately this lens will be for a very specific market but if you're thinking of using it for street / candid photography it's pretty useless. Colour

Mein Normalobjektiv an der Z5 für alle Gelegenheiten. Sehr gute Bildqualität in der Landschaftsfotografie. Schön leicht. Der viele Kunststoff stört mich nicht und beeinflusst auch nicht die Wertigkeit. Da ich nicht ständig die Objekte wechsele, wird es wohl auch lange halten. Einziges Manko ist, dass ich keine Sonnenblende anbringen kann. Der Preis ist phänomenal und die Garantiebedingungen nach Registrierung bei Nikon sehr gut.

I like the 40mm focal length and hoped it wouldn’t be too bad at f2. No point in looking at its performance stopped down- my Z zooms cover that well and I am NOT interested in its compactness.
I found it too soft even in centre frame at 5 to 20 m subject distance.
At MFD and f2 it is unusable- fuzzy except in the centre where is barely “fair”
My first thoughts was that it was a bad copy which would have been a first for me having bought Nikkors for years. I am

Dudaba entre este y el 28 2.8, compré este por ser f2 y porque esta un poco mejor protegido para la lluvia. Para retrato te tienes que alejar mucho, 2 metros para busto, y 5 metros para una persona en pie. Para un evento saturado de gente (cosplay) es demasiada distancia, para platos de comida ídem, por precio está bien, es mucho más luminoso que el kit de la cámara y eso se agradece.

The optics on this lens are quite simply terrible. Plastic lens mounts, no buttons, no hood I can forgive if the optics are good…….they’re not!
It’s not sharp at f/2 and it’s not sharp at f/2.8 so it begs the question……..what’s the point?
I own the 35mm f/1.8 and wanted something really small for travel but this is going straight back, it’s a pile of junk.

Estou usando em uma Z7. Excelente relação custo/beneficio. As imagens sao muito nitidas e o conjunto camera+lente fica muito leve, perfeito para viagens. Comprei para uso em fotografia de rua e para fotografia em geral, mas com um tubo de extensão vitrox, tennho usado muito para macro fotografia e estou bastante satisfeito com os resultado.

entpuppt sich als tolles Objektiv Gewichtsmässig kaum zu spüren bringt das Teil an meiner Z6 sehr gute Resultate und der Preis ist der Hammer. Ich habe es als "gebraucht" bei einem Drittanbieter erworben, konnte keinerlei Spuren entdecken! Ich habe mein MC Z 50/2.8 verkauft, da ich es kaum für Makros benutzt habe! Dieses ist sonst in allen Belangen überlegen.

This is unbeatable lens for money, a true winner for Z mount. It's plenty sharp, super compact and I left my old 50 1.8g to sit down in the bag. Super silent to focus, makes Z6 combo to be very compact. I also love 40mm FOV, it's so useable in a lot of situations.
The con in my eye is bokeh. It's never pleasing, actually more distracting than I anticipated reading reviews. When conditions are right, it's neutral (like a lot of new modern lenses). In most cases it is nervous

Ich find das kleine Ding echt toll. Es ist unglaublich leicht und macht fantastische Aufnahmen, besonders bei wenig Licht.
Die Z5 wirkt damit außerdem wie eine Kompaktkamera. Dieser Umstand ist in sofern von Bedeutung, als dass man damit wesentlich unauffälliger Fotos machen kann, bei Straßenszenen beispielsweise. Die Leute interessieren sich einfach (wie bei einem Handyfoto) nicht dafür - ganz anders ist das, wenn man ein riesen Objektiv drauf hat. Aber man fotografiert mit einer
