Really enjoyed this series. Great cast and interesting stories that keep you engaged. If you are interested in a series that has that Tudor feel but with a modern twist of different stories and use of language then this is for you. If you want a series that is historically accurate then you will have to search elsewhere. The series never claimed to be historically accurate so I'm not sure what the issue is.

Geniale Serie, geniale 1. Staffel! Jonathan ist zwar nicht so dick wie das "Original", spielt aber mit so viel Leidenschaft, dass diese geschichtliche Differenz mehr als wettgemacht wird. Alle Schauspieler sind super in ihren Rollen. So wird Geschichte interessant.

I kept lagging while starting this as the early parts with Woolsey are a little dull. It gets so much better in S 2-4 and I was sorry it didn’t continue with Mary. Amazing to think what a sociopath he must have been with so much power. I learned lots of great things while watching and it was very entertaining. If you are struggling with the first episodes, keep going. I also recommend watching The White Queen / The White Princess and the Spanish Princess as prequels and then we have a very long

I thought the production, acting and art direction were excellent but a bit OTT for my tastes though I'm sure it captures the Machiavellian intensity of the period.

This is another one of those dramatizations where script writers decided history wasn't exciting enough and rewrote it for the screen. Why? Tudor England was beyond belief and I really wish someone in the movie industry had the moral courage to actually make a show about the Tudors from the ending of the War of the Roses to the ascension of James VI of Scotland as James I of England. And if they really want to make a movie about the Tudors they could start with the marriage of a widowed

Mel Gibson tried the same casting in Braveheart. The 5'9" Gibson was supposed to be the 6'5" William Wallace. In The Tudors we have the 5'9" Ryes Davies playing 6'2" Henry VIII. For people who know a little about history it doesn't work. Fortunately for Hollywood hardly anyone in this country knows much about history.

I loved this series and was surprised at the level of sumptuous production. Great actors, historical detail, location, direction and photography. This was truly a treat and right at home just clicking a TV.Still sad it actually ended and looking for more films continuing the subject.

This is a modern take on a widely known tale of power, lust and the King's desire to produce a male heir. If you can get past the portrayal of Henry by the luscious Jonathan Rhys Meyer then it makes for interesting viewing. Natalie Dormer is excellent as Anne Boleyn, but for me the real jewel in the crown is the undeniably powerful performance of Maria Doyle Kennedy as the pious and discarded Katherine of Aragon. It was impulse purchase. By the time the item arrived i lost interest in it, so it ended up in my sisters hands. She watched it like crazy. She spent several hours in a row watching it.Even though I did not play it I am happy I bought it because my sister liked it very much.

Historically, this series bears no relation to the events they portray. Some of the acting is quite appalling and the plot is at times somewhat murkey and unclear. On the whole, the acting os workmanlike but would win no prizes for an inspiring performances. If you enjoy historical fiction then this is the series for you. If you want historical accuracy, then avoid like the plague. There are better series on offer.
